In 2016, some children in the nearby village of Waah were playing with fire when it accidentally got out of hand and burned the entire village down. Everything was gone, including rice stores that were meant to last through the rainy season.
Warc Foundation stepped in and paid for new building materials, rebuilding Waah from the ground up to better than it was before. The new zinc roofs are a big improvement over the straw used before, and ensures that another incident like this doesn’t happen again.
